AMSG LEVEL I & II CERTIFICATION COURSES
Specific training for Heli Ski/Snowcat Guides, Mountain Operations Personnel and Ski Patrollers
Mechanized ski guiding is a highly specialized and extremely technical profession. Prior to the year 2000 there was no standard in the United States for training, certifying, and endorsing aspirant guides. After being approached by the AMGA and other agencies requesting helicopter-operating protocols, members of Heli-Ski US determined it was necessary to establish a mechanized guide school in the United States. Always a leader in outdoor public safety awareness and education, H2O Guides began the rigorous task of creating the Helicopter Operations Safety Procedures (HOSP) for use by the Heli-Ski US Association. In 2004, the first American Mechanized Ski Guide Course was offered under endorsement of Heli-Ski US.
Since 2004, the AMSG course has experienced considerable evolution. Intent on being inclusive, rather than exclusive, H2O's Mechanized Guide school is now open to any person with a desire to learn more about mechanized mountain access under the endorsement of the North American Outdoor Institute. The instructors at the school are working heli-ski guides, avalanche forecasters, and AMGA guides with an extensive background of educating adults in mountain environments.
The American Mechanized Ski Guide courses provide hands on, in depth training for professionals looking to gain experience specific to guided mechanized mountain operations. By providing live guiding scenarios in big mountain environments and real time working with helicopters, fuel systems, snow cats, snowmobiles, ski lifts, rescue equipment, and rope systems you will leave not only with knowledge, but with first-hand experience. Now beginning its ninth season, graduates of this program are working in mechanized operations throughout the United States and in Canada. Take the next step and progress your knowledge and career this season with hands on experience from the American Mechanized Ski Guide School.
