THE PREMIER ALASKA ADVENTURE VACATION
TERRAIN: Our flyable terrain includes 4,000 square miles of the southeast, central, and northern Chugach Mountains, including nearly 300,000 acres of terrain that is not shared with any other heli-ski operator. With so much available terrain combined with thousands of micro-zones we can find better snow, weather, and runs every day. Incredible runs are only a few minutes from the heli pad, and we fly progressively farther to access the freshest powder. We often ski and ride FIRST DESCENTS and new regions!
SNOW: The regions of the Chugach surrounding Valdez feature Alaska's deepest snow and are Earth's snowiest coastal mountains—cold smoke powder on a MASSIVE annual snow pack thanks to the interface of maritime precipitation and Arctic temperatures. We measure storm snow accumulation in METERS. The quality of the snow here is unique. It sticks to steep faces like glue yet remains fresh and dry. Even during late April we access thousands of vertical feet of cold powder on north-east facing slopes.
EXPERIENCE: Founded in 1995 by Dean Cummings—world champion skier, renowned big mountain guide, and heli-ski pioneer—Dean Cummings' H2O Guides is the longest-running heli-ski company in Alaska under the original owners who live in Valdez year round. 2017 is our 23rd-consecutive season. We have unmatched knowledge of the terrain, snow, glaciation, and weather.
SAFETY: H2O Guides has the best safety record in Alaska validated by industry insurance provider data. Your safety is always our first priority.
ABILITY: We cater to confident-intermediate, advanced, expert, and pro-level skiers and snowboarders. We access the terrain that is appropriate for your ability and group's objectives whether you prefer cruising moderate powder bowls or charging the steepest, deepest big mountain freeride terrain in the world.
CONVENIENCE: Our all-inclusive BEYOND THE TUSK package provides a unique Alaska adventure combining mind-blowing guided heli-skiing and heli-boarding, exclusive heli-skiing terrain that is not shared with other operators, delicious and healthy Alaskan-inspired cuisine with all meals, airport shuttle in Valdez on arrival and departure days, and safety equipment included.
TEAM: We are team of passionate international mechanized ski guides with an emphasis on safety and providing the highest level of service.
TRAVEL: Getting to Valdez is easier than you may realize with direct flight to Anchorage from numerous U.S. cities and a short connecting flight to Valdez. In most cases you will be heli-skiing the morning after your arrival in Alaska.
PHILOSOPHY: H2O Guides has worked with the USFS since the mid-1990s to assist with identifying and avoiding critical wildlife habitat, documenting regions and glaciers, and providing backcountry education to the public. We are committed to responsibly sharing access to these regions with our guests and protecting access for future generations.
